Each of the below fruits contain certain vitamins and minerals that may aid to a specific issue and improve certain aspects in your children’s health (and your health too for that matter!).  Keep reading and find out what your fridge should be stocked with this summer.



1. Strawberries


Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium, fibre and antioxidants. A cup of strawberries a day will help your children’s your immune system and the even better news is that you can go and ‘pick your own’ at many strawberry farms across the country!  


2. Blackberries


Blackberries are also a good source of vitamin C, vitamin K and antioxidants. They will help your childrens skin, eyes, bones and digestive system due to their high levels of fibre.   


3. Cherries


Cherries are a super fruit that can help your children sleep due to their melatonin content.  De-stone them and scatter on top of some yoghurt for a yummy pudding for your little ones.  


4. Pineapple


Pineapple is a really beneficial fruit for children to eat as it can prevent colds, strengthen bones and will keep your children’s gums healthy and teeth strong due to its vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, phosphorus, and potassium content.  


5. Watermelon


Lugging a watermelon back from the shops is most definitely worth it when you can slice it up icy cold for your children to have as a snack on a hot summers day.  Watermelons are full of potassium, antioxidants, carotenoids, carbohydrates, Vitamin A, B6, and C, calcium, thiamin, sodium, healthy protein, and fiber and they also have a very high water content which means they’ll help keep your kids hydrated too.
